What to Cite
How to decipher if a cite is reputable:
- Check the URL closely.
- Scan the site for legitimacy.
- Look for indicators of quality info.
- What do others say?
- Does it all add up?
Is this a personal page, a government page, a commercial page (this can be discerned from the domain address- .gov .com .edu)
Who wrote the site, what are their credentials and how current is the info
Look at the publisher of the page (first part of the URL address)
Do a google search to see sites that link to it. Search google with link:WebsiteAddress. Such as link:www.nataliejolly.com
Go with your gut feeling about the site.
Remember that putting documents and pages on the web is easy, free and unregulated. Surf wisely!
