How to decipher if a cite is reputable:

  1. Check the URL closely.

    2. •  Is this a personal page, a government page, a commercial page (this can be discerned from the domain address- .gov .com .edu)

  2. Scan the site for legitimacy.

    3. •  Who wrote the site, what are their credentials and how current is the info

  3. Look for indicators of quality info.

    4. •  Look at the publisher of the page (first part of the URL address)

  4. What do others say?

    5. •  Do a google search to see sites that link to it. Search google with link:WebsiteAddress. Such as link:www.nataliejolly.com

  5. Does it all add up?

    6. •  Go with your gut feeling about the site.

Remember that putting documents and pages on the web is easy, free and unregulated. Surf wisely!
